Sudan Railways Corporation (SRC) is the state-owned national rail operator of Sudan, managing one of Africa’s largest rail networks, spanning over 4,700 kilometers of line. Headquartered in Atbara, River Nile State—long recognized as Sudan’s historic “Railway City”—SRC serves as a vital strategic transport link connecting Port Sudan on the Red Sea coast to major economic hubs, including Khartoum, Wad Medani, Sennar, and Kosti. Established in 1896, the corporation plays an indispensable role in national supply chain logistics by delivering cost-effective bulk freight transport for petroleum products, agricultural commodities, construction materials, and imported containerized cargo.
