Access & Security Manager

Position Overview

The Security Manager will play a critical role in supporting NP’s field operations by providing security leadership, risk analysis, incident management, staff training, and access support. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and field teams to maintain effective security systems while supporting NP’s humanitarian mission.


Key Responsibilities

Security Information Management

  • Lead security information gathering, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Produce daily security updates and formal security reports.
  • Maintain relationships with NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, government authorities, and relevant security actors.
  • Monitor security incidents and maintain incident tracking systems.
  • Provide security analysis and recommendations to management and staff.
  • Support informed decision-making through timely risk assessments.
  • Ensure security documentation is properly maintained and accessible.

Training and Capacity Building

  • Assess security training needs across the country program.
  • Organize and facilitate security training sessions for staff.
  • Deliver comprehensive security inductions for new employees.
  • Conduct refresher trainings and scenario-based exercises.
  • Ensure all staff understand NP security procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Recommend and develop improved security protocols where necessary.

Access, Risk Mitigation, and Operational Support

  • Conduct route assessments and access mapping for project locations.
  • Support humanitarian access negotiations and relationship-building efforts.
  • Develop and maintain contingency plans and risk assessments.
  • Lead security assessments for new operational areas.
  • Review travel requests and provide movement recommendations.
  • Conduct physical security assessments of offices, guesthouses, and project sites.
  • Advise management on emergency preparedness, evacuations, medical emergencies, and critical incident response.

Required Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in:
    • Safety & Security
    • International Armed Conflict
    • Peace Studies
    • Intelligence Studies
    • International Relations
  • Previous experience with an international NGO in a security management or field coordination role.
  • Experience working in complex and high-risk operational environments.
  • Ability to adapt traditional security approaches to support Unarmed Civilian Protection methodologies.
  • Completion of a Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) course within the last 12 months.

  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certified First Aid or Trauma Care Trainer qualification.
  • Arabic language skills.

  • Balancing security requirements with operational and programmatic needs.
  • Working within rapidly evolving and challenging security environments.
