Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is an international NGO protecting civilians in conflict zones through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We are scaling up our Sudan program and looking for a committed Area Manager to lead on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate NP’s protection response across assigned areas of operation
- Represent NP with local/state authorities, UN agencies, and INGOs
- Lead operational implementation of community-based violence prevention activities
- Line manage and build capacity of field teams
- Support project design, needs assessments, and donor reporting
- Contribute to conflict context analysis and budget monitoring
- Ensure compliance with HR, finance, and humanitarian principles (Do No Harm)
- Identify new funding opportunities and support proposal development
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Social Science, Human Rights, International Humanitarian Law, or related field
- Minimum 4 years humanitarian field experience in challenging security environments
- Proven team leadership and remote staff management experience
- Experience in programme and operations planning and management
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Adaptable, stress-resilient, proactive, and able to work autonomously
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Prior experience in Sudan or a comparable conflict-affected environment
- Arabic language skills
- Experience managing emergency and early-recovery operations
- Background in Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP), peacebuilding, or protection programming
- Experience working with FCDO- or ECHO-funded projects
- Demonstrated ability to represent an organization at coordination meetings with diverse stakeholders
First 3 Months Focus
- Support the launch of new FCDO- and ECHO-funded projects across assigned areas
- Establish strong working relationships with consortium partners
- Set up field coordination mechanisms (SitReps, meetings, communications)
- Support logistics and HR teams to finalize procurement and staffing plans
