Ethics & Compliance Coordinator

General Objective

Under the authority of the Country Director and the Internal Audit Referent at HQ, the Conformity, Risk and Transparency Coordinator ensures compliance with internal procedures, strengthens internal control systems, and promotes transparency across operations.

The role contributes to audit success, follows up on recommendations, prevents abuse risks, and supports risk management systems. It also acts as the main focal point between the mission and headquarters on audit, archiving, and internal procedures.


Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Strengthen internal control and risk management systems
  • Support preparation and follow-up of external audits
  • Ensure implementation of audit recommendations
  • Actively contribute to PSEAH (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment) systems
  • Serve as focal point for HQ on audits, archiving, and compliance matters
  • Support awareness and training of staff on internal control and ethics

Key Priorities (First 2–3 Months)

  • Follow-up on field archiving management system
  • Prepare for SHF spot checks and external audits
  • Support PSEAH focal points in awareness and onboarding of national staff

Security Context

  • N’Djamena: Generally calm but requires caution
  • Sudan (Darfur): Highly volatile; strict security compliance required

Profile Required

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (Accounting, Audit, or related field)
  • 3–4 years of experience in humanitarian sector
  • 3–4 years in a similar compliance/audit role

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in audit, compliance, archiving, and PSEAH in NGOs
  • Experience in training facilitation
  • Strong command of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Soft Skills

  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Ability to enforce compliance and humanitarian principles

Languages

  • Fluent English required
  • Arabic is a strong asset

Working Conditions & Benefits

  • Salary: Starting from EUR 2860 gross/month
  • Monthly per diem: USD 750
  • Accommodation and travel costs covered
  • R&R: 7 working days every 3 months + USD 850 allowance
  • Insurance: Full medical, repatriation, and war risk coverage

Living Conditions

Based in N’Djamena in a shared apartment with 24/7 electricity and internet. The city offers various leisure facilities and an expatriate community. Field visits to Sudan may be required, where living conditions are more basic and security rules are strict.
