Deputy Field Coordinator for Programs

About the Role

The Deputy Field Coordinator for Programs (DFCP) is responsible for leading and supervising program implementation across West and Central Darfur. The role ensures the quality, effectiveness, and strategic direction of SI’s multi-sector humanitarian interventions while supporting program managers and local partners.

The DFCP also supports external representation and coordination efforts under the delegation of the Field Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise program implementation in West and Central Darfur.
• Support the design and implementation of multi-sector projects.
• Ensure quality project delivery and compliance with donor requirements.
• Directly manage Program Managers and supervise local partners.
• Monitor project progress and support strategic planning.
• Contribute to proposal development and donor reporting.
• Represent SI in coordination meetings when delegated.
• Strengthen collaboration with humanitarian actors and local stakeholders.

Main Challenges

• Managing a large portfolio of humanitarian activities.
• Supporting the structuring and development of the Central Darfur office.
• Addressing access constraints, particularly during the rainy season.
• Operating in a high-risk and complex security environment.

Priority Objectives (First 2–3 Months)

• Support Program Managers in planning and implementing activities.
• Strengthen capacity-building efforts for the Central Darfur team.
• Support the development of multi-year programmatic strategies for West and Central Darfur.
• Improve coordination and oversight across ongoing projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, International Relations, Humanitarian Studies, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector.
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar coordination or management position.
• Strong experience in project and program management.

Technical Skills

• Multi-sector technical knowledge, including:
  • WASH
  • Shelter
  • Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL)
  • Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA)
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL)
• Proposal development and report writing.
• Coordination and partnership management.

Core Competencies

• Leadership and team management.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving.
• Strong initiative and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure.

Salary & Benefits

• Starting salary: EUR 2,475 gross/month
  • EUR 2,250 base salary
  • 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly
• Monthly Per Diem: USD 750
