Position Summary
The Programme Executive for Peace and Social Cohesion in Sudan will strengthen the collective response of Sudanese churches and ecumenical partners to humanitarian, human rights, and peacebuilding challenges. The role supports ecumenical coordination, inter-religious dialogue, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives to advance peace and social cohesion across Sudan.
Key Responsibilities
Church & Ecumenical Engagement
- Provide strategic support and consultation to Sudanese churches and ecumenical organizations.
- Strengthen church responses to humanitarian and human rights crises.
- Facilitate collaboration among church partners and stakeholders.
Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion
- Promote inter-religious dialogue and cooperation.
- Support peacebuilding initiatives and inclusive dialogue processes.
- Build partnerships among religious communities and civil society actors.
Capacity Building
- Assess institutional development needs.
- Design and deliver training programs.
- Strengthen organizational and technical capacities of local partners.
Advocacy & Representation
- Develop and implement international advocacy strategies.
- Promote peace, civilian protection, humanitarian access, and accountability.
- Represent WCC in regional and international forums.
Network Coordination
- Coordinate the Ecumenical Network for Sudan (ENS) and Sudan Ecumenical Forum (SEF).
- Organize meetings, workshops, and regional consultations.
- Liaise with key regional ecumenical organizations and partners.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Law, Political Science, Theology, Peace Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with UN agencies, international NGOs, or faith-based organizations.
- Strong advocacy, policy engagement, and partnership management skills.
- Experience in humanitarian or displacement-related contexts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Fluency in English required.
- Knowledge of French or another UN language is an asset.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Sudan or conflict-affected environments.
- Knowledge of humanitarian diplomacy and peacebuilding.
- Experience facilitating multi-stakeholder partnerships and agreements.
