General Objective of the Role
The Country Director is responsible for the overall management of TGH operations in Sudan under the supervision of the HQ Desk Manager. The role oversees both national and international staff and ensures effective implementation of the mission strategy.
Key Responsibilities
General Mission Supervision
- Represent TGH in Sudan with authorities, donors, UN agencies, and partners
- Monitor and analyze political, humanitarian, and socio-economic context
- Develop mission strategy and identify funding opportunities
- Design new projects in collaboration with HQ
- Ensure compliance with local laws and donor regulations
- Strengthen organizational visibility and coordination
- Manage multi-location operations across Sudan
Security Management
- Monitor national and regional security context
- Ensure safe access to project areas in coordination with security teams
- Update evacuation and security plans regularly
- Liaise with UN security systems (UNDSS, OCHA) and embassies
- Manage security incidents and crisis response with HQ
Human Resources & Administration
- Adjust mission structure based on operational needs
- Lead recruitment of national and international staff
- Ensure performance management systems are implemented
- Oversee compliance with HR, finance, and logistics procedures
Fundraising & Business Development
- Identify new funding opportunities
- Conduct assessments and exploratory missions
- Support continuity and expansion of humanitarian programs
- Develop consortium partnerships
Programme Management
- Support programme teams and Deputy Country Director
- Ensure compliance with donor and internal policies
- Strengthen accountability systems and safeguard standards
- Manage cases of misconduct, corruption, and PSEA compliance
Working Conditions
- Duty Stations: Port Sudan, Khartoum, Geneina (with possible relocation)
- Travel to Chad (N’Djamena) may be required
- Field locations may have limited infrastructure and communication
- Security measures and movement restrictions may apply
Candidate Profile
- Experience as Country Director in a mid-sized NGO in crisis settings
- Strong humanitarian sector knowledge
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong security management experience
- Excellent English communication skills (French/Arabic an advantage)
- Experience working in Sudan is highly desirable
- Strong financial and organizational management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively
- Strong representation and stakeholder engagement skills
Contract & Benefits
- Monthly gross salary: €3,300 – €4,000 (non-negotiable)
- Contextual allowance: €150/month
- Per diem: €750/month
- Hardship allowance (location-based)

- R&R allowance: €930
